Our Green Journey

Claregalway Hotel Management and Staff are fully committed to a comprehensive Environmental Policy, which includes effective waste management and responsible practices to reduce electricity, gas and water consumption. At the Claregalway Hotel, we care deeply for the environment, and we are constantly introducing environmentally friendly changes to help play our part in protecting our environment. We have made a number of changes over the years and each time you visit us, we hope you will see others implemented.

We as a team, have decided to embark on our green journey. All our team are currently upskilling in this area and looking forward to seeing changes to our business that will help the environment in a positive way!

Here are some of the actions we have taken to do our part in protecting and sustaining the environment to date:

• We have Lossnay Air Handling Units fitted in both our Waterdale Suite and in Bia & Co. These Lonnay Fresh Air Ventilation Systems work by extracting stale air from inside the building to remove damp odours, dust, bacteria and gasses.
• We have upgraded the BMS (Building Management System) and installed a Combined Heat & Power unit. Having smart and energy-efficient technology allows not only for efficient energy usage but also energy savings and reduced emissions.
• We have a zoned heating system in place in all our hotel bedrooms.
• We have installed 3 dual electric car charging points.
• Replaced all light bulbs in the hotel with LED bulbs.
• Optimized our laundry practices by maintaining a temp of 60 degrees for towel washes.
• Our lights in our bedrooms are operated using room key cards.
• Sensor lights and taps in place in the Bia & Co. toilet area.
• We have updated the use of single small bottles for shampoo/conditioner to large bottles.
• Use of aerator in Shower Heads & use of 6L Cisterns.
• Use of pool covers in our leisure centre, Core Fitness, at night time to reduce energy consumption and water evaporation.
• Our Food and Beverage consumables are reusable, recyclable or decomposable products.
• We have a paperless HR process in place.
• Use of Sustainable Bio LPG as our kitchen gas.
• Commitment to 100% renewal of electricity.
• Active member of Repak Ireland.

You can assist us to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle during your stay with a few simple steps

• Put used towels in the bath/shower that need replacing
• Hang towels you wish to reuse on the bathroom rail
• Save Water by not running taps and showers unnecessarily
• Place all recyclables in the bedroom bin and all general waste in the bathroom bin
• Help us reduce waste by refilling your reusable water bottle; our team at Bia & Co. is happy to assist you throughout your stay.
